Valentine's Day is so cheesy. Some years I love it, some years I just ignore it. I'm feeling a little cheesy this year...
First of all, if you're still shopping for V-Day cards, I highly recommend this shop. She has hilarious cards---some sweet, some a little racy. Super cute! Last time I handed a card to my husband he asked, "Is this one of those naughty cards from Etsy?" It totally was. ;)
For my shop, I decided to make a Valentine's Day Hippo. What? You've never heard of a Valentine's Hippo....well, I can assure you that they exist. And they have a cute heart on their bums.
Want one for your very own---or maybe for your sweetheart?
I'm giving one of my lucky readers the cute hippo in the picture above---and not the hippo in the water. I don't think the post office will let me ship that one...

The best v-day present I ever got was a box from my husband (back before we were married) he sent me diamond earrings, a stuff animal and a promise ring.
ReplyDeleteThat same year I sent him a box with a ring, cookies and a stuffed bear (we both still have our animals 11 years later)
I also sent a box to my cousin and they went and heart attacked his house!!!!
Awe, I love that you stil have your stuffed animals!
DeleteAnd what exactly does heart attacking a house involve?!?

ReplyDeleteMy favorite Valentine's Day gift was my engagement ring. Well, it was 3 days after Valentine's Day. We didn't get to spend the actual day together because there was a snow storm and my (now) husband couldn't make it to visit. When I saw him the next weekend, he popped the question. I was completely surprised.
So sweet! What a nice surprise! :)

ReplyDeleteOh, and don't want to forget to mention, I l<3ve the heart on the hippos bum! So, SO cute! :)
ReplyDeleteI love this little guy, Cutie Bum is a good name.
ReplyDeleteThe best gift ever to me was from my grand daughter last year her Mom had her kiss and chew the corner and it had a pic of her in a sweet little suit. Oh these 1st days and moments of living.

I always made a fun dessert/treat for my family. Years ago when my oldest was really into Teletubbies, I made tubby toast (chocolate sugar cookies with frosting faces). I've tried fancy chocolate ganache cakes, cheesecakes, and this year I think I'll try replicating the Cream Puff Cake from Cake Boss.
ReplyDeleteYum! This sounds like a fun tradition to start...

ReplyDeleteMy favorite Valentine gift was from my then-boyfriend, now husband. He gave me a teddy bear that is exactly like my childhood teddy bear! It was so sweet, and now I get to cuddle with it whenever he's out of town for business :)
ReplyDeleteAwe!!

ReplyDeleteI NEED this HIPPO!!! YES. NEED.
ReplyDeleteMy best valentines gift was a heart shaped ring with diamonds in it, my hubs got for me on our first valentines day married. But, honestly it couldn't have been that great... as I can't for the life of my remember where I put it. ;) {In my defense, it was 9 years ago...}
I too think Valentines day is for cheese balls. I love giving my little ones something sweet on that day. Happy V Day.
Oh! And I NEED this hippo.
Oh, I'm sure it was great! It will probably show up when you least expect it... :)

ReplyDeleteI think that one of the sweetest Valentine's Day gifts I've ever received was some very unexpected roses delivered to my work from my long distance boyfriend. He had apparently emailed my boss to make sure it was okay, all without my knowledge! We then had a phone date later and watched Tangled
ReplyDeleteSimple and sweet : )

This is Amanda Besser, by the way, for some reason it's not showing my name on my post...
DeleteMy absolute favorite Valentine of all time was..... my black lab puppy. She was one of the best dogs I have ever had. Fat like a little whale!
ReplyDeleteI never really got a special Valentine's Day gift (and I've been married 10 years!), but this hippo is super adorable!!!!

How cute is this!? We don't really do much for Valentine's Day-- maybe dinner or something, but we work different shifts, so it's hard when Vday falls during the work week.

ReplyDeleteWhen I was in college, my now husband and I were in a long distance relationship and wouldn't get to celebrate Valentine's Day until AFTER the holiday. He went to some store and bought me a really super huge pink teddy bear as part of their 80% off all Valentine's Day goodies sale. It was ridiculously large, but it made me smile to see him getting off the bus carrying this thing. I was surprised they didn't make him buy a ticket for it!
ReplyDeleteThe year I met my husband I was still a public school teacher... for our first Valentine's Day he decorated a shoe box and put my name on it, cut a slit and filled it with little valentines (the kind you send with your kid to school to pass out). He had written something different on each card and under all the cards was the first piece of jewelry he ever bought me. I still have the box full of cards. ... And the jewelry of course! :)

ReplyDeleteThe best gift I ever received, a simple necklace with my name letter. Simple, but really from the heart.
ReplyDeleteOnce I gave a whole collection of tickets and little souvenirs from all the places we ever visited that year, it was a goos idea and is something that brings up memories!
I ´m not lucky at these things, but the hippo is the cutest thing. :)
I would love to win the purple hippo, since my sisters married name is now Hipp. They are having a baby girl in March and this would be an adorable gift to them.
